All about All TVs
Samsung's TV range spans every type of screen technology, from Crystal UHD and QLED for vibrant, everyday viewing to Mini LED and Neo QLED for sharper contrast and brightness in brighter rooms, and OLED for the deepest blacks in a dark room. Mini LED sits between Neo QLED and QLED, using smaller, more precisely controlled LEDs for richer contrast at a more accessible price than our flagship Neo QLED range.
At the very top of the Samsung TV range sits Micro RGB, a technology that goes beyond conventional backlighting by using micro-sized RGB colour lights to illuminate each part of the screen with unprecedented accuracy. The Micro RGB AI Engine controls every RGB element independently, delivering vivid picture quality alongside Micro RGB Precision colour certified by VDE for true-to-life colour reproduction across a 100% BT2020 wide colour gamut. Currently available as a large-screen format, Micro RGB is designed for those who want the most immersive viewing experience available.
For something different, The Frame and The Serif bring design-led Lifestyle TVs into the mix, doubling as art pieces when you're not watching. Whichever range you choose, look out for Samsung Vision AI features like adaptive picture and sound, and check out our 0% finance options to spread the cost. Compare screen size, resolution and panel type across our Smart TV range to find the right TV for your room.

Is a picture frame TV good?Samsung's Frame TV is a brilliant choice if you want a television that looks great even when it's switched off. Its matte anti-glare display, slim profile, and customizable bezels mimic a real picture frame. When you're not watching, it displays artwork from Samsung's Art Store or your own photos in Art Mode, blending naturally with your home décor. If aesthetics matter as much as picture quality, The Frame is one of the most stylish smart TVs available in South Africa.

What are the advantages of the Frame TV?The Frame TV combines 4K QLED picture quality with a design built around your home. You get a customisable bezel system to match your interior style, a slim-fit wall mount that sits flush against the wall like a real painting, and an energy-saving Art Mode that reduces power consumption when showing artwork. It also includes full Samsung Smart TV functionality, with Samsung Vision AI features available on compatible models.

What is the difference between OLED and QLED TVs?OLED pixels are self-illuminating and can switch off individually, producing perfect blacks and outstanding contrast. This makes OLED ideal for darker rooms and cinematic viewing. QLED uses Quantum Dot technology with an LED backlight to deliver exceptional brightness and colour volume, making it the stronger choice for bright, well-lit living rooms. Both offer a premium experience; the best option depends on your room and viewing habits.
For more info on the differences between QLED, OLED, and Neo QLED read our detailed guide. -
How long do QLED TVs last?Samsung QLED TVs are built to last 10 years or more with regular daily viewing. Quantum Dot technology is highly durable and doesn't degrade in the same way as some other display types. To get the most out of your TV, avoid static images for long periods, keep the area well ventilated, and use the built-in energy-saving settings.
-
What does HDR mean on a TV?HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. It allows a TV to display a wider range of brightness levels and colours, capturing more detail in bright highlights and dark shadows at the same time. Samsung TVs support HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG. HDR10+ uses dynamic metadata to optimize brightness and contrast scene by scene, rather than applying one fixed setting across an entire film.
-
What does Neo QLED mean?Neo QLED is Samsung's advanced evolution of QLED technology. It uses Quantum Mini LEDs, which are approximately 1/40th the size of conventional LEDs. Because these tiny LEDs are controlled in much finer zones, Neo QLED TVs deliver improved contrast, deeper blacks, and more precise brightness control. Neo QLED is available in 4K and 8K in South Africa, with Samsung Vision AI support on compatible models.
-
What is an OLED TV?OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode. Unlike LED TVs that use a separate backlight, OLED displays generate light at the individual pixel level, so each pixel can switch off completely to produce true blacks. The result is exceptional contrast, rich colours, and a natural, cinematic picture. Samsung OLED TVs also offer wide viewing angles, making them well suited to larger rooms.
-
What is Mini LED on a Samsung TV?Mini LED is a backlighting technology that uses thousands of small LEDs to illuminate the screen with greater precision than a standard LED TV. More localized dimming zones reduce blooming around bright objects and reveal more detail in dark scenes. Samsung's Mini LED range sits between Crystal UHD and Neo QLED in the lineup, offering a significant picture quality upgrade at a more accessible price.
-
Is a Mini LED TV worth buying? For most buyers, yes. Samsung Mini LED TVs deliver a meaningful step up in picture quality over standard LED and Crystal UHD TVs, with brighter highlights, better contrast, and improved local dimming. They don't quite match OLED's pixel-level precision or Neo QLED's ultra-fine zone control, but they offer premium visuals at a competitive price point, particularly for bright, well-lit rooms.
-
How many TV sizes does Samsung offer?Samsung offers one of the widest TV size ranges available in South Africa. You can browse by size across: 32-inch or smaller, 43-inch, 48 and 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch, and 98-inch or above. Whether you need a compact screen for a bedroom or a large 65 or 75-inch TV for your living room, there is a Samsung size to suit your space and budget.
-
What's the new Mini LED TV range, and how is it different from Neo QLED?Samsung's Mini LED TV range uses a higher number of smaller LEDs for more precise brightness and dimming control than a standard LED TV. Neo QLED takes this further with Quantum Mini LEDs, which are around 1/40th the size of conventional LEDs, giving it far more granular zone control and deeper blacks. Neo QLED also integrates Quantum Dot colour technology for greater colour volume. Mini LED is a strong mid-range option; Neo QLED is Samsung's premium LED-based TV technology.
