Starting with the Galaxy Watch9 series, the way your watch displays information has changed. When you raise your wrist, your watch now shows a simplified screen before loading the full Watch face, helping to reduce battery use and extend how long you can use your watch between charges.

Note:

  • This feature is initially available for preloaded watch faces. Support for select Samsung watch faces available for download will be included with future updates.
  • Third-party watch faces are not supported.

Glance display behaviour

In the simplified screen, some watch face information will appear as simple icons rather than full data. To see real-time details, just tap the screen, or press a side button.

Note: This feature currently applies only to the compass, altimeter, and barometer, and its availability may vary depending on the software version and region.

Full wake: Tap the screen, or press a side button to view the active watch face with real-time data from your watch face information.

Note: When you lower your wrist from the fully active watch face, the display enters Always On Display (AOD) mode. If you keep your wrist raised, the watch automatically switches to the simplified screen after about 10 seconds.

When Always on Display (AOD) is Disabled

When Always On Display is disabled, raising your wrist wakes the screen directly from an off state to fully active, without displaying the quick-view screen.

Note: Depending on the environment and motion detection, the Watch face may switch directly to the active screen.
