Your Galaxy Watch can use the same Wi-Fi network as your phone when needed. However, it does not always stay connected to Wi-Fi. When your watch is connected to your phone using Bluetooth, the Wi-Fi connection may be turned off or inactive to save battery. If your watch is out of range of your phone and cannot connect to Wi-Fi, follow the steps below.
Note: Available settings may vary depending on your watch model, software version and carrier.
Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and check if your watch is connected to a network.
Important: When the watch is connected to the phone via Bluetooth, the watch stops using Wi-Fi to conserve battery life.
The watch will use Wi-Fi again in the following situations:
- When the connection between the phone and watch is disconnected.
- When an app requires a Wi-Fi connection.
- While the watch is charging.
- When downloading a software update on the watch.
- In other situations where a Wi-Fi connection is needed.
To connect to a hidden network, tap Add network > Choose a security type if needed. Next, enter the network name and password > Tap Save.
Note:
- When a Galaxy device is connected to the watch, the Sync Wi-Fi profile feature is enabled, allowing Wi-Fi profiles saved on the Galaxy device to sync with the watch. The watch will then automatically connect to saved Wi-Fi networks. This feature may only be available on certain watch models, and enterprise AP Wi-Fi profiles are not supported.
- Wi-Fi cannot be managed on the Galaxy Fit.
Make sure your Wi-Fi network is working properly.
- Connect your phone (or another device) to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Check if the device can access the internet.
Troubleshooting: If the device cannot connect or has no internet access, restart the router and try again.
Note: Some router security settings may prevent your Galaxy Watch from connecting.
If the issue continues, try resetting your Galaxy Watch.
Note: Back up your data using the Galaxy Wearable app before resetting your watch. Samsung is not responsible for data loss.
Note:
- For the Gear Fit2 Pro, tap Gear info, then select Reset Gear.
- For the Galaxy Fit, swipe the screen and tap About band. Then, select Reset band > Reset.
Follow-up: After resetting, reconnect your watch to your phone using the Galaxy Wearable app to continue setup.
